"Nine people died and nine others were missing after Typhoon Koppu slammed into south China, causing torrential rain, mudslides and an oil spill, the government and state media said on Thursday.

All nine missing had been swept by flash floods, while the other nine
had been killed by typhoon-triggered mud-rock flows, landslides, house
collapses and flooding, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

Four of the those killed in southern Guangdong province - a father and
son, and two migrant workers - were buried by a torrent of mud, Xinhua
reported."
