"Brian Bielmann is a renowned surf photographer who risks life-threatening injury to capture surfers cutting across the face of immense swells.
But he also counts among his influences the work of the dance and fashion photographer Howard Schatz and his book, 'Water/Dance.'
Speaking of Mr. Schatz, Mr. Bielmann said, 'I just looked at the real-world environment of reefs and where I'm traveling to and I looked at what he was doing and I kind of combined the two together.'"
