"More Humboldt squid have washed up on several beaches in Tofino over the last two days, mirroring a similar mass stranding that happened in early August.
About 40 squid were seen actively chasing prey very close to the shore at Chesterman Beach on Thursday in the late afternoon, according to local biologist Josie Osborne with the Raincoast Education Society.
About 40 Humboldt squid have been stranded on local beaches over the last two days; in early August, over 300 died in the same manner."
